When it comes to choosing the most entertaining shows that you can watch to keep yourself engaged, the options are, well… unlimited. However, you may have noticed that every year, certain shows steal the spotlight and become the talk of the town. As far as the streaming services are concerned, people turn to Netflix. But for me, Paramount network on Spectrum is my ultimate downtime companion.

That being said, here’s a list of some prominent titles you should watch this summer.
Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a work of genius by the creator Charlie Brooker. This British science fiction show has been attracting many viewers lately. Although the first episode aired in 2011, Black Mirror gained prominence among the critics and the viewers quite recently.
The show gets its inspiration from an old anthology series called The Twilight Zone. Black Mirror examines modern society and anticipates what changes the new technologies would rather bring in the future. All that the creator believes can be the impact of the technological advances are very creatively depicted in each episode. Every episode is different from the other.
The tone of most of the episodes remains dark and satirical. Although, you will come across a couple of light mood episodes as well. If you think that all episodes are set sometime in the future, then that is not true. Some of the episodes also show what an alternative present world could be like.
Stranger Things
With an IMDb rating of 8.8, Stranger Things is also very popular among viewers who anxiously wait for the next season after the finale of the previous one. Stranger Things is an American horror series that is a Netflix original. The series is set in a fictional town in the year 1983 in its first season. The town goes by the name of Hawkins and is situated in Indiana.
The story for the first season revolves around the investigation that starts when a young boy disappears. Apparently, some supernatural activities that take place close to the town are responsible for the event. These activities include the appearance of a girl who possesses psychokinetic abilities. The same girl also helps the boy’s friend in finding him.
The second and third seasons of the show are set in years 1984 and 1985 respectively. Premiering in 2016, Stranger Things received a lot of appreciation for its pacing, acting, characterization, soundtrack and directing. With this, it should not come as a surprise that the show received 31 Primetime Emmy Award Nominations.
Money Heist
Money Heist is a Spanish crime drama series. The initial intent was to keep it a limited series with two parts. However, Netflix acquired the rights in 2017 and re-cut the whole series into short episodes. This made Money Heist a 22 episode long series.
In 2018, Netflix renewed Money Heist having 16 episodes and a higher budget than before. The third part for the series released on July 2019. According to reports filming for the fourth part’s complete too. Shot in Madrid, Panama, Thailand, and Florence, Money Heist revolves around a robbery.
The series has garnered a lot of positive reviews from critics and the viewers alike. It is a must-watch series for you this summer if you are into crime shows.
Preacher
Developed by Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg, Preacher is an American television series. The season is based on the comic book series that goes by the same name. Recently, the forth and the final season of the show premiered.
The story of this season revolves around hard-drinking and chain-smoking preacher who goes by the name Jesse Custer. It is a rather interesting watch to see how the story of this preacher who gets infused with some power unfolds.
Orange Is the New Black
Orange Is the New Black is by far the most-watched series on Netflix. It is also a game-changer when it comes to the power of original content produced by an online streaming service. One would refer to it as a game-changer as it changed the rules when it came to casting. Unlike all Hollywood series, this show’s cast features women of color.
The producer of the series also dared to tell a story very different from the usual. It is for this reason that the show received several Emmy Nominations including the ones in the categories of Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
Apart from that Orange Is the New Black also received Golden Globe Award nominations and won an American Film Institute Award.
So, here’s the list of the most popular shows for you to watch these summers. The list includes some Netflix originals so you cannot watch them without subscribing to the service. However, if you want to have access to more options, you could opt for any of the Spectrum packages. This is how I go about it. I pay a monthly fee for my service package including Internet service and watch my favorite shows whenever I wish to.
